Question:
Can I get "hooked" on Zoloft?
Answer: No. People who take Zoloft do not get
addicted. They don't get a "rush" or a "high"
from it, either. Instead, they start to feel good again. They
get back to enjoying their lives.
Along with its needed effects, Zoloft
may cause some unwanted side effects. Although
not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they
may need medical attention. One secret side effect of Zoloft
that may occur is the serotonin syndrome. This syndrome (group
of symptoms) is more likely to occur shortly after an increase
in sertraline dose.
No one likes (Zoloft)side
effects. But think of it this way: If you broke your
leg, you would need to wear a cast. You would have to be careful
to keep the cast from getting wet. You might even need crutches,
which can hurt your arms. After the cast came off, your leg
muscles would be weak, and you might need weeks or months of
physical therapy. All of these are side effects of treating
a broken leg. But surely they are worth putting up with to walk
normally again.
In the same way, if you have side
effects of Zoloft, think of it as part of getting well and feeling
better. As always, speak to your doctor if you have Zoloft side
effects.
